Walsh Bay Arts Precinct

The Walsh Bay Arts Precinct will deliver a public arts and cultural precinct for the community on Sydney’s famous waterfront. The redevelopment will combine the existing heritage with state-of-the-art facilities. RCC was appointed delivery partner for the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct redevelopment and is currently on site delivering Pier 2/3, working with Infrastructure NSW, Create NSW and the current and future tenants of the area. RCC successfully delivered Wharf 4/5 in December 2020.

The project will double the arts and cultural space at Walsh Bay, with the creation of new arts facilities and performance venues in Pier 2/3 and refurbished facilities in Wharf 4/5.

On completion, the revitalised Walsh Bay Arts precinct will be home to an expanded group of prestigious companies: Sydney Theatre Company, Sydney Dance Company, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Gondwana Choirs, The Song Company, Bell Shakespeare, Australian Chamber Orchestra and Australian Theatre for Young People. In their rejuvenated home these companies will add to the vibrancy and diversity of Sydney’s night time economy, increase cultural participation and enable a range of new local jobs.

Hillsong Epicentre

The multilevel facility was built within an existing precinct which comprised educational college facilities. Works included the expansion of the college and new state-of-the-art performing arts facilities comprising of a new 600 seat auditorium, associated back of stage facilities, multiple studios, musician and band rooms.

The building also includes a commercial grade television studio and sound recording studio. Additional works included construction of a 3-level underground carpark.

The Epicentre is Australia’s head office and operates round the clock 7 days a week. In 2018, the Epicentre won the Master
Builders Associations Excellence in Construction Award for Tertiary Building over $30m.

Oran Park Metro Apartments

Metro Apartments 1 is Oran Park’s first residential apartment complex, a significant milestone for the area. The development resides among a mixed-use precinct including twin commercial buildings, the first of which was successfully delivered by RCC in early 2020.

The design and construction of this much anticipated project offers six levels of residential space accommodating 53 apartments with a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments. The residential building forms part of a a pedestrian friendly precinct, where built form has a human scale at street level, with cultural and civic expression.

Galungara Primary School

Cranbrook School Stage 2 Redevelopment

The Cranbrook School’s Stage 2 Redevelopment of the northern portion of their Senior School Campus consists of the construction of the new Vicars Centenary Building that will provide approximately 6,258sqm of new purposefully designed teaching and learning environments, including: teaching and learning spaces, teaching terraces, a drama theatre, a dining commons, a place of worship and an assembly hall.

Construction also includes the new Murray Rose Aquatic and Fitness Centre constructed beneath the existing Hordern Oval, comprising of 50m swimming pool, 25m Learn to Swim pool, multi-purpose sports hall, gymnasium, and 126 space carpark.

UTS Central

RCC partnered with the University and FJMT under a Managing Contractor agreement we could progress the concept design without delaying the construction of the project. This process allowed RCC to actively contribute to the design and value management in real time.

The works involved the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a new teaching building, including a new UTS Library, Faculty of Engineering, learning commons and research labs. The building presents as an undulating semitransparent building wrapping the base of the tower, this is achieved with curved glass façade.

Since starting on site, $63m (25%) additional scope has been added to the scope of works, including super lab fitout, feature stairs and fitout of the tower.

Molecular Horizons, University of Wollongong

Design and construction of the five-storey Molecular Horizons building at the University of Wollongong, Wollongong campus. Works included:

  • Animal house;
  • Astronomy and chemistry roof platform with rooftop mechanical plant.

The MLS project also consists of the:

  • Construction of single pedestrian bridge between the MLS building and the adjoining IHMRI (building 32);
  • Reconfiguration of the eastern portion of existing P7 car parking to accommodate 13 accessible car parking spaces; Construction and augmentation of associated infrastructure services including a stormwater management, electricity substation and telecommunications;
  • Landscape and public domain works including leaning spaces, gathering spaces, gardens and the planting of new vegetation including 12 advanced plants and accessible paths; and
  • Installation of building identification signage, on the eastern and western facades of the lit overrun.

The redevelopment of Alexandria Park Community School will involve the demolition of the existing school and construction of a new school suitable for 1,000 primary and 1,200 secondary students.
