Regiment Student Accommodation

RCC has been engaged by the University of Sydney to redevelop the H01 Regiment Building, H02 Darlington Centre. The project involves the demolition of the current building and the construction of a new mixed use development integrating affordable student accommodation, community facilities and teaching spaces.

The new mixed use redevelopment will consist of:

  • 656 single dorm size rooms of Circa 10.1-10.3m2 min. 5% (33 rooms) shall be Accessible/Adaptable rooms Circa 13.8m2.
  • Two 2-bedroom apartments for the Deputy and Head of Hall Accommodation
  • Communal lounges, games, study and music rooms, flexi spaces and kitchen facilities.
  • Shared toilet and bathroom amenities.
  • Shared communal laundry facilities
  • Bike Storage for 175 bikes and staff end of trip facilities.
  • Teaching hub, technology hub, theatre and teaching Rooms.
  • Office space and meeting rooms for Student Accommodation support staff.

IGLU Student Accommodation Redfern

Construction of an 18 storey, 370 bed, 134 unit student accommodation facility with communal living spaces on level 1 and retail and community space at ground floor.

The project involves the partial demolition of the existing buildings and retention of the Regent Street façade.

The Steps at Central Park

Design and construction of a new student accommodation building, comprising a single level basement, a split level ground floor including 11 retail tenancies, 15 stories of student accommodation with 826 beds, and a rooftop plant enclosure.

The 901m² GLA of Ground Floor Retail comprises of 11 tenancies, (7 food and 4 non-food) in shell and core base building format, back of house facilities, services and admin, resident and visitor bicycle parking spaces, ‘Shell and Core’ base building provisions for Stage 2 Central Park Central Thermal Plant, surrounding foot paths, roads, landscaping and common area landscaping.

Sancta Sophia College

The project consisted of 128 Student Accommodation rooms featuring kitchenettes and bathrooms to each room. The building is spread over 5 levels (GF to Level 4), The ground floor has a common room with cooking and entertainment facilities (including an outdoor deck), levels 1,2 and 3 has common tea stations and level 4 has a common room with cooking facilities and an outdoor entertaining area complete with bricked in BBQ. The facade consists of face brick with contrasting colours, the windows each have composite panel highlights underneath but the upmost level has a mansard roof (angled roof) with protruding windows. The area around the building has a large amount of landscaped gardens complete with a ‘green wall’ system on both facades that extend to the full height of the building.

The Kensington Colleges

Demolition of the existing Basser and Goldstein Colleges, Design and construction of high quality contemporary accommodation in five identifiable and distinct colleges, Basser (166 beds) Baxter (218 beds) Goldstein (156 beds) 4th College (165 beds) and the Seniors Hall (242 beds) and associated services and external works. This project, included demolition, was undertaken in a fully operational University campus. It was vital that we maintained existing college operations including integration with Goldstein Hall (Dining Hall).
