Goulburn Police Academy Accommodation

The NSW Police Academy is home to the next generation of the NSW Police Force’s recruits, offering lecture theatres, simulation venues, virtual weapons training facilities, scenario villages and student amenities to help best prepare students for life on the front lines as a Police Officer.

The New Accommodation project seeks to expand the Academy’s facilities to meet its requirements now and into the future, accommodating an additional 180 students.

Key features of the development include:

  • Three apartment-style accommodation buildings with 180 units in total.
  • Internal fitout to each unit to contain single beds, wardrobes, study area and individual bathrooms.
  • Small breakout / common area to be provided to each floor.
  • Construction undertaken within the live Academy grounds while ensuring operational continuity.
  • Enhancing and modernising the Academy grounds to retain the existing student and staff capacities.
  • Improving the working and living conditions of Police staff and students.

Shortland Correctional Centre Cessnock

Delivery of new accommodation for 330 maximum security inmates (486 including surge beds) across three buildings, with supporting facilities including exercise yards, movement control and health buildings, industries and programs building, general stores building, associated offices and posts, recreational facilities, and refurbishment of existing gatehouse.

Coffs Harbour Justice Precinct

Construct Only delivery of a four-storey courthouse including two local courts, two district courts and multipurpose rooms with sophisticated audio-visual tech to be used for tribunal hearings and mediations. Construction also included a Police Station with modern forensic facilities, conference rooms and office space, fitness area, cells complex, loading dock, parking and landscaping.

South Coast Correctional Centre

Construction of a new 600 bed multi-classification South Coast Correctional Centre. The facility will provide a gatehouse, reception, visit-areas, clinic, industries/education programs, administration, chapel, accommodation, staff amenities, secure perimeter, car parking and hard and soft landscaping. The project included major civil, groundworks and infrastructure enabling works with site clearing of over 29 Ha to make room for the correctional facility.

Lake Illawarra Police Station

The Lake Illawarra Police Station involved the construction of a new three level building (ground, first and second levels) with external open and undercover car parking accommodate facilities for the area command. The works also included bulk earthworks and retaining walls, sewer, stormwater upgrade, a new substation, provision of an external vehicle manoeuvring area, undercover car parking and miscellaneous site and landscaping works.

Wagga Wagga Police Station

The construction of the new Wagga Wagga police station involves demolition of all existing structures on site, and construction of a new three storey building to accommodate updated facilities for the Area Command. The works also include provision for external vehicle manoeuvring and covered vehicle holding yards and forensic laboratories.

Dubbo Police Station

The Dubbo Police Station consolidated all police functions within the Dubbo Local Command into two separate sites. The main new Police Station was built on the same site as the existing police station, adjacent to the heritage listed Dubbo City Court House. The Forensic and Radio Tech development involved the refurbishment of an existing heritage listed building, the removal of existing buildings on site and the addition of a new building to cater for the increasing needs of these specialist police officers. This project was split into three separate stages. Stage 1 is the construction of a temporary police station consisting four cell blocks to house up to 8 detainees.

Stage 2 was the Forensic / Radio building. This is a new single storey forensic building complete with laboratory type joinery. Works also include extensions to the existing radio building with police storage facilities and refurbishment of heritage house for existing police radio unit.

Stage 3 was the construction of the new four storey police station which includes a basement carpark. Works include a van dock, cell areas, general duties areas, detective offices and training areas.

Rocks Police Station

The Design and construction of a four storey fitout of existing heritage police station at 132 George Street in the Rocks. The refurbished police station accommodates the Local Area Command. Works were undertaken within a very tight programme and completed on time.
