‘Barragi’ meaning ‘to fly’ in Wiradjuri
A Mulyan Public School year 1 student has named the 52m tower crane at Cowra Hospital Redevelopment ‘Barragi,’ meaning ‘to fly’ in Wiradjuri. The year 1 class of students joined the project team to watch the flag hoisting.
“The tower crane plays a vital role in the building process; and it is fantastic to have such a personalised name as the crane supports the hospital construction,” said Amanda Bock, Executive Director Rural and Regional Projects, Health Infrastructure NSW.
Due for completion in 2025, the project will provide a modern and purpose-built facility for the regional community. It includes:
- an emergency department
- general medical and surgery inpatient ward
- a maternity unit with a dedicated nursery
- the hospital’s first CT scanner
- Ambulatory care
- a dental clinic.
“Our hospitals are important pieces of community infrastructure, and it’s great to see our regions youngest residents involved in this project while it’s being built,” Ms Bock said.
