Kokoda Residences wins coveted UDIA Award for Excellence in Retirement Living

Setting a new benchmark in vertical independent retirement living.

We’re honoured to celebrate Kokoda Residences winning the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s (UDIA) Award for Excellence in Retirement Living with Vasey Communities and WMK Architecture. This project holds extra significance for our team, being the first retirement-living high-rise building we have delivered.

The UDIA awards are designed to highlight innovation, sustainability, industry leadership and excellence in urban development across NSW and the ACT, with this particular category recognising retirement living projects that provide particular attention to the needs of retirees.

This commendation serves as a testament to the vision and collaborative efforts of our client and construction partners. Claire Davies, Director at WMK Architecture, summarised, “Change is an inevitable part of life and doesn’t limit itself to just one chapter…it is wonderful to know that this development will help people’s loved ones live well.”

Completed in 2022, Kokoda Residences’ design takes a holistic approach in response to the site, its local context and the wider community to create beautiful homes for its active and social residents. With its innovative urban planning, the twelve-storey village comprises of 117 spacious 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments in Wairata’s hart.

Martin Patience, General Manager – Aged Care and Retirement Living, reflected on the commendation, “Vasey Communities, WMK Architecture and RCC have a rich history built around integrity and trust. These shared values, and our specialist Retirement Living experience, allowed us to collaborate with the stakeholder team to provide a market leading facility and, most importantly, a wonderful place for residents to call home.”
