The works involved the design and construction of a 2 level, 60-suite Residential Aged Care Facility which is linked to a 60-bed inpatient hospital via an enclosed walkway. This unique facility is a joint public and private venture between Illawarra Retirement Trust (IRT) and the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD), each located in separate wings of the building:
- The IRT component is situated on the West Wing and consists of a Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) incorporating residential care bedrooms as well as associated staff facilities.
- The ISLHD operated component is located on the East Wing and consists of outpatient services, Ambulatory Care Services, and on-site Clinical Support Services.
