Last week we welcomed NAWIC members and guests to the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) for a site tour of the UTS Central project. RCC staff delivered a presentation on the unique challenges of the project and the intelligent solutions which have and will be implemented to deliver this landmark development.
The spectacular and complex building design and implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) were key draw cards for the fully booked event. Guests have told us it was a unique experience to be able to go behind the hoardings on such a high profile project.
The UTS Central project
A significant component of the UTS Campus Master Plan, the UTS Central project involves the redevelopment of Building 2 and extension of Building 1 to redefine the main entrance to the campus. These works will support the university’s long-term strategic plan including significant growth in research; while positively contribute to the urban quality of the precinct. The project is expected to be completed in 2019.
