Enhancing sporting performance
This state-of-the-art sporting complex, located in District Park on land owned by Venues NSW, is home to the Newcastle Knights. It provides professional athletes and the community with access to a world-class rugby league training facility, including three full-sized training fields, 40-metre running track, outdoor gym and players’ lounge.
More than $2 million was realised in cost savings, enabling valuable building upgrades focused on improving outcomes for visitors. Strategic value management options, including an innovative structural and cladding design, significantly enhanced the building’s overall design, functionality and visual appeal.
Stakeholder collaboration was critical throughout design and delivery, particularly with Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. As the project was delivered under their flight path, a detailed aviation management plan was implemented to ensure critical emergency services were not disrupted.
