Gosford Hospital Health & Wellbeing Precinct Stage 2

Gosford Hospital Health & Wellbeing Precinct (HWP) Stage 2 involves the base build of Tower A & Tower B and is the next phase of the Gosford Hospital Redevelopment. Stage 2 follows the new 11-storey Acute Services Building (ASB) on the hospital campus and is located on top of the operational Gosford Carpark complete by the RCC team in February 2019.

Base Build Tower A (Stage 2) comprises of:

  • 7,250m2 of Net Lettable Area (NLA) for Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute (CCCSRI) with a Gross Floor Area of 11,306m2
  • HV & LV infrastructure works including 2 new substations

University of Newcastle Bio Resources Building

The University of Newcastle Bio Resources Building is located on the university’s Callaghan campus and will consist of a 2-storey, 3,500 square metre holding and procedure facility. Specifically, the project will involve:

  • Fixed and loose laboratory and office equipment to allow the space to respond to the changing needs and future technologies
  • Different zones to cater for low, intermediate and high-barrier procedures
  • The ability to expand and contract zones depending on research needs
  • PC2 holding and procedure facilities
  • Administration space and meeting room
  • Capacity for up to 16 sample freezers
  • Space to accommodate up to 4,400 cages for mice and rats
  • Quarantine facilities
  • Secure loading dock and supply storage

Watt St Commercial

Watt Street Commercial consisted of the refurbishment to the existing David Maddison research facility into 6 levels of open plan, Green Star and 4.5 Star Nabers Rated, A Grade Commercial office space. The project also includes a 200 seat lecture theatre, secure on-site parking, landscaped courtyard and entry foyer cafe featuring a living green wall. (Gross Floor Area of approx 8600m2).

Major demolition works were undertaken to clear out all of the existing partitions before work began on creating this prime commercial centre. The building received:

  • Brand new façade cladding, sunshade louvres and glazing all round;
  • Four large terraces were given a major overhaul including tiling and glazed balustrades;
  • The iconic existing curved concrete facades were given new life through pressure cleaning and painting as well as the external concrete columns;
  • Additions of a café space, large atrium, vertical garden, timber feature wall, carefully selected tiles, architecturally designed landscaping and all new footpaths to surrounds.
  • The electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, fire, security and lift services were completely re-designed and installed new, to comply with greenstar regulations.
  • Extension of the southern end of the building from Level 4 to roof.

Callaghan College Campus

RCC has been engaged to deliver both the early works and main works package for Callaghan College Campus in Jesmond. Early works consisted of the construction of a new road to provide improved access to Callaghan College and Heaton Public School & the removal of existing trees.

Main Works consists of:

  • 9 new permanent teaching spaces
  • New multipurpose hall over 2 levels with art spaces, performance areas and fitness classrooms.
  • All-weather roofing over existing basketball courts
  • Demolition of a Bini Dome and removal of all built works and in-ground services
  • Removal of demountables, demolition of associated structures and services, & construction of an A grade carpark.

Rutherford Public School

Hunter School of Performing Arts

East End Newcastle

The project will offer retail spaces on the lower levels and include the refurbishment of the existing heritage David Jones building and retention of the heritage facades of the Washington and Fabric House buildings.
